In an Instagram post which he put up on Monday, Drew Brees announced he’ll be returning to the NFL for his 20th NFL season to “make another run at it” with the New Orleans Saints.

“My feelings about the 2020 season!” Brees captioned the photo. “I look forward to the grind and the journey, for the reward at the end will be worth it!!! Love you #WhoDatNation. Let’s make another run at it!”
It’s not all that surprising Brees will be back with the Saints as he previously said he’d only return to the NFL to play for New Orleans and was “all for” the prospect of splitting quarterback reps with backup/gadget player Taysom Hill.
“If I’m back, and Taysom’s alongside me, call the plays that put us in the best position to win,” Brees said last month. “If that means Taysom Hill is taking 30 snaps a game, 25 snaps a game, so be it. I’m all for that.”
The announcement puts rumors that Brees was considering retiring to take a spot in the broadcast booth, à la Tony Romo, to rest.
Now, the Saints and Brees will have to work out the details of a new contract. The last time Brees was a free agent in 2018, he gave New Orleans a bit of a hometown discount and agreed to a two-year, $50 million contract to stay with the team.
