Despite Being Inactive, the Saints and Rams Won Big on Wild-card Weekend

Both teams saw their odds of winning the Super Bowl improve without even taking the field.

Without even taking the field on wild-card weekend, the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams won big.

Following upset wins by the Philadelphia Eagles on the road and Dallas Cowboys at home, the Saints and Rams were delivered the best possible situation they could have hoped for in the second round of the playoffs.

The Saints, the top seed in the NFC, will host the Eagles in New Orleans while the Rams will welcome the Cowboys to LA in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Had the games turned out differently, the Saints would have had to take on a Seattle team led by veteran quarterback Russell Wilson while the Rams would have had to take on Chicago and the best defense in the NFL this season.

As it stands, both teams will now face a lesser opponent and have better odds of advancing to the next round. In terms of going all the way to the Super Bowl and winning it, the Rams’ chances went from 14 to 23 percent while the Saints saw their chances rise from 22 to 27 percent following wild-card weekend.

On the other side of the bracket, the Kansas City Chiefs will host the Indianapolis Colts while the New England Patriots will host the Los Angeles Chargers.

It’s a good draw for the Chiefs, less so for the Pats.
