Cleveland Browns’ Baker Mayfield and Odell Beckham Taking Shots at New York Giants

Unfortunately, the Giants and Browns won't face off until next season

In a pair of new interviews, two of the Cleveland Browns biggest stars took Giant shots at one of New York’s football teams.

While speaking with Sports Illustrated, ex-New York Giant Odell Beckham Jr. couldn’t’ help himself from talking about his former team, again.

Beckham said the Giants are “stuck in an older mindset” and called their decision to trade him to the Browns in March — after making him the highest-paid receiver in the NFL (at the time) — “personal.”

“This wasn’t no business move,” he said of being dealt to Cleveland. “This was personal. They thought they’d send me here to die.”

While Beckham was talking about what the Giants did in March, his teammate Baker Mayfield was taking the G-Men to task for what they did the following month at the NFL during an interview with GQ.

Specifically, Mayfield hammered New York for drafting Duke quarterback Daniel Jones sixth overall in the 2019 NFL draft.

Mayfield seemed to take issue that the Giants took the former Blue Devil so high even though he went 17-19 as a three-year starter for Duke.

“I cannot believe the Giants took Daniel Jones,” Mayfield said. “Blows my mind. Some people overthink it. That’s where people go wrong. They forget you’ve gotta win.”

Given the comments from Beckham and Mayfield, it would be very interesting to see them have to take the field against New York this season. Unfortunately, the NFL’s schedule gods have not smiled upon us this season and the teams won’t face off until next season — unless they both make the Super Bowl (which some are betting on the Browns to do). The Giants, not so much.
