After the second version of “The Match” in May saw Peyton Manning and Tom Brady join original Match participants Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson on the golf course, a new foursome will hit the links for the third iteration of the event.

Joining Manning and Mickelson for a post-Thanksgiving Day trip around the golf course will be three-time NBA champ and scratch golfer Steph Curry and former NBA player and current TNT analyst Charles Barkley, according to Sportico.

In addition to generating $20 million for COVID-19 relief, the spring outing with Manning, Brady, Woods and Mickelson averaged 5.67 million viewers and a 3.4 household rating, making it the most-watched golf telecast in the history of cable TV.

That event aired on TNT and it seems likely the November 27 broadcast will as well, though Turner Sports declined to comment on the matter to Sportico.

There’s no word about what the pairings will be for match, but Curry and Mickelson will probably have to be split up as they are the best golfers. Of the four, Barkley is certainly the weak link on the links.

“If nothing else, the inclusion of Turner’s irrepressible studio analyst should make for a diverting couple hours of TV, even if the actual match play may leave something to be desired,” according to Sportico.”The mechanics of Sir Charles’ stroke are as ungainly as a mis-buttoned shirt; on the downswing, the club head drops toward the ball with all the fluidity of one those giant mallets used in carnival strongman games.”

In May, Woods and Manning defeated Mickelson and Brady while Barkley did color commentary on TV.
