With their win on Thursday Night Football over the Kansas City Chiefs, the Los Angeles Chargers stated, loudly, their case as a Super Bowl contender.

One of the NFL’s most entertaining teams, the Chargers were finally able to overcome the mistakes that commonly plague them and win a tight game on the road.

Los Angeles was trailing 28-14 when they got a touchdown run from Justin Jackson with 3:49 left to go. Then, after the Chiefs failed to establish a drive, Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers led his team for a touchdown.

Trailing by a point with the option to kick a game-tying extra point, Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn made a gutsy call, electing to go for two. They got it and won the game 29-28.

Amazingly, L.A. was the first team since Minnesota in Week 15 of the 2002 season to win with a two-point conversion in the final 10 seconds of regulation.

The win brings the Chargers to 11-3, the same record as the Chiefs. Though Kansas City has the edge due to tiebreakers, both teams now have a legit shot at the No. 1 seed in the AFC and the inside track to making the Super Bowl.

“We didn’t come here to tie. We came here to win. So to me it was a no-brainer,” Lynn said.
