Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is used to having his passes caught, but all of the ones he made at his wife for months after they were introduced in 2017 by a mutual friend kept getting rejected.

Mayfield’s solution? He kept following and unfollowing Emily Wilkinson on Instagram in a desperate bid to get her attention.

Finally, it worked and Wilkinson responded to one of Mayfield’s message and agreed to meet the 24-year-old for lunch the day before he played his final college football game in the Rose Bowl.

“I was assuming he’d be the typical playboy athlete,” Wilkinson, who is four years older than Mayfield, told ESPN. “He’s such a softy. He’s a mama’s boy.”

The date went well and three days after Oklahoma lost to Georgia, Mayfield moved in with Wilkinson and her brothers in Los Angeles. Six months later, they were engaged.

Fittingly, after the couple was married earlier this month, they both shared photos on Instagram.

After being drafted No. 1 overall, Mayfield completed 310 of his 486 passing attempts (63.8 percent) for 3,725 yards and 27 touchdowns against 14 interceptions.

Expectations for him this season are high as the Cleveland Browns now boast an offense featuring wideout Odell Beckham Jr. and running back Kareem Hunt (once he returns from suspension).
