As the Los Angeles Rams gear up to play the Atlanta Falcons Saturday night, Roberts Mays at The Ringer poses the argument that Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald is the best player in football. While interior linemen usually struggle to record the numbers necessary to win defensive player of the year, Donald’s 11 sacks and league-leading 91 pressures may be enough to secure him the trophy. What makes Donald so dangerous at the line is his lethal combination of speed, strength, and instincts. Though only 6’1”, Donald’s ability to change his approach on every play allows him to stymie offenses like no other player in the league. His defensive coordinator, Wade Phillips, has already started considering that the 26-year-old Donald might be an all-time great.
