On September 28, the Boston Red Sox fell to the Baltimore Orioles 9-4 at Fenway Park.
Prior to last night, when the Bruins lost to the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 in overtime at TD Garden, that Red Sox loss was the last time a professional Boston sports team lost a game at home.
The Celtics are 8-o at home, the Patriots are 5-0 and now, thanks to the OT loss, the Bruins are 12-1-4 at home.
That means that collectively, Boston’s teams are 26-1-4 at home since the Red Sox lost in September. (They won their final home game the following day.)
Technically, since the Bruins lost to the Blackhawks in overtime, a version of the winning streak is still intact as no Boston team has lost in regulation since the Sox were defeated by the Orioles.
That streak will be on the line over the weekend when the Celtics host the Nuggets on Friday, the Bruins host the Avalanche on Saturday and the Patriots host the Chiefs on Sunday.
Another streak will be on the line for the Patriots as they have never lost a home game to an AFC opponent during the regular season with both Tom Brady and Julian Edelman on the field.
More than a decade old, the streak dates back to when Edelman was a part-time player on offense who spent some time playing defensive back as well.
Tom Brady and Julian Edelman
Will attempt to keep their incredible streak of NEVER losing a game to an AFC opponent, in the regular season, at Gillette Stadium, in a game they both played in(42-0, 1.000)
