Amy Klobuchar Is Open to Revealing Alien Secrets

The presidential hopeful has an Area 51 strategy

There are still 14 candidates vying for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, but with previously strong contenders like Kamala Harris, Beto O’Rourke and, as of Thursday, Julián Castro out of the race, the rest are looking to stand out from the crowd.

Senator Amy Klobuchar has kept her campaign alive with an unabashedly moderate approach. But this week in The Conway Daily Sun, she staked out a new platform: revealing classified alien secrets to the public.

That’s right, Amy for America is hopping on the Area 51 train. As part of a wide-ranging feature, the newspaper asked Klobuchar about a famous UFO incident involving a New Hampshire man. She took it as a jumping off point.

“I think we don’t know enough … I don’t know what’s happened, not just with that sighting, but with others,” Klobuchar told the Daily Sun. “And I think one of the things a president could do is to look into what’s there in terms of what does the science say; what does our military say.”

She continued: “Here’s the interesting part of that answer is that some of this stuff is really old … So, why can’t you see if you can let some of that out for the public so earnest journalists like you who are trying to get the bottom of the truth would be able to see it?”

Why, indeed. If that line of questioning sounds familiar, it might be because it came up during the lifespan of Storm Area 51, this summer’s hottest meme, in which a joke Facebook event about breaking into the United States Air Force facility in Nevada went viral and accrued about 2 million RSVPs and 1.5 million “interested” users.

It might also be because two other presidential candidates have offered to reveal information about aliens, too. In July, Andrew Yang said he “would love to” declassify Area 51. Then in August on the podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, when asked if he would reveal any extraterrestrial secrets, Senator Bernie Sanders said, “My wife would demand that I let you know.”

Will Joe Biden make a better offer? Will Pete Buttigieg vow to convert Area 51 into a wine cave? Will Donald Trump scope it out for a new golf course? We’ve got 10 months left for candidates to up the alien ante.
