There is far more to one Hamptons town than simply being a summer party destination for the wealthy of New York  City. Joey Wölffer, the proprietor of Wölffer Estate, a winery in Sag Harbor, said that she is tired of people thinking that her corner of the Hamptons doesn’t have more to offer. “There is so much here,” she told Travel + Leisure. “It’s real.”

Sag Harbor is one of New York’s best-kept secrets, according to Travel + Leisure. It has nature preserves, beaches, community events and museums. Want to see it like a local? Start by finding the perfect waterfront retreat. There are plenty of inns and bed-and-breakfasts around, but Wölffer suggests Baron’s Cove, a recently-renovated 67-room property with both beach access and a saltwater pool. There are plenty of restaraunts in town as well, but a local favorite is fish tacos at Dockside Bar & Grill. Sag Harbor has some of the best vintage shopping and antiquing as well. And it is great for kids and families, offering endless outdoor and water activities.
