There is nothing wrong with celebrities making consensual sex tapes. However, unfortunately for the celebrities in them, many of these tapes have been leaked to the public. Cosmo put together a list of the stories behind the tapes you were never supposed to see.
Kim Kardashian and Ray J: In 2007, Vivid Entertainment released “Kim Kardashian, Superstar,” a 41-minute tape they purchased from an unidentified third party for $1 million. Kardashian sued to prevent its release, but eventually settled for a rumored $5 million. During an interview with Oprah in 2012, Kardashian said she wasn’t “naive to the fact” that she was “introduced to the world” via her sex tape, and that since it was a “negative” introduction, she had to work “ten times harder to get people to see the real [Kim].”
Paris Hilton and Rick Salomon: Hilton’s sex tape was released in 2003. She told the Associated Press after the release that she was “embarrassed and humiliated.” The tape was released via the Seattle-based company Marvad Corp. The release was followed by a slew of lawsuits. But then, Salomon sold the tape himself to Red Light District Video. Hilton told Marie Claire in 2017 that she “wish I had never met him” when speaking of Salomon.
Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee: This might be the most infamous sex tape of all time. In 1996, the tape was stolen by the couple’s disgruntled electrician and from there, a member of the Italian mob paid $50,000 to cover manufacturing and distribution of the tape over the Internet. He thought he would get a cut of the sales, but a wave of copycat websites ruined that plan. Anderson and Lee filed a $10 million civil lawsuit against everyone they thought might have a copy of the tape.
Jennifer Lopez and Ojani Noa: For years, Lopez’s ex-husband shopped an intimate video of life with Lopez, reportedly including nudity and private footage from their honeymoon. It is not necessarily a sex tape, but still included intimate details of Lopez’s life. The video was reportedly in violation of the confidentiality agreement he signed after his separation with Lopez. In 2011, the tape was literally locked up by a court in a safe deposit box.
Colin Farrell and Nicole Narain: Farrell and Playboy model Nicole Narain made a 14-minute sex tape while they were dating in 2003. A couple of years later, the tape was released and Farrell accused Narain of trying to “distribute the tape through an intermediary,” but she denied the claim. They reached a settlement in 2006.
