Next week, Jason Statham’s film, The Meg, hits theaters, and it looks like the perfect way to beat the heat this August, reports Maxim.

The prehistoric-shark-battling flick was shown to a few lucky fans this week, and it seems like it is exactly what the audience was looking for.

The film may not be an Oscar contender, but it shows a deep-sea submersible getting attacked by a massive creature that was previously thought to be extinct.

The crew is trapped inside the now disabled ship, which lies at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific. Jason Statham punches the shark to death. That last part isn’t true.

The cast includes Statham, Winston Chao and Li Bingbing.
