Philippe Starck Is Designing a Space Station for Tourists

Axiom Space, a space exploration company, has hired the designer.

Axiom Space, a space exploration company that plans to build a commercial space station, has hired world-renowned Phillippe Starck to design it. Starck has agreed to design the interiors for the crew quarters, dining area and galley habitation areas of the Axiom Station, which is connected to the International Space Station. The design includes suede-covered walls that have lights which will change color depending on the time. The luxurious design also has metallic gold framed window and gold textile covers on the handles that visitors would need to use to move through the space. Axiom Space plans to launch their station in 2020 with a 10-day space tourism expedition that will be open to private citizens. A ticket will cost $55 million.
