Finally, after nine tries, the husband of celebrity chef Paula Deen has won the Ernest Hemingway Look-Alike Contest, an event held annually in Key West, where the writer lived and worked in the 1930s. Michael Groover, a harbor pilot from Savannah, won the contest held Saturday at Sloppy Joe’s Bar, where Hemingway was often found relaxing with friends. The contest was held on the 119th anniversary of Hemingway’s birth and is a highlight of the annual Hemingway Days celebration. Dean was there to celebrate the victory of her 62-year-old husband.
Ladies and gentlemen, your 2018 Ernest Hemingway Lookalike Competition winner! The post-award celebrations made for quite a party. The winner, by the way, is the chap in the middle holding the trophy. The others are the judges, all past winners of the event. pic.twitter.com/BIJTxlUnKZ
