This ‘The Nun’ Teaser Was Banned From YouTube For Being Too Scary

YouTube users were in for a shock thanks to a gimmicky new jump-scare ad for the upcoming horror movie The Nun. The teaser for The Conjuring spin off was appearing on its own before videos. The teaser is simple: It tells users to lower their volume, and then, very suddenly and loudly, a terrifying picture of a ghost nun appears, accompanied by a piercing scream. It is a cheap, but effective, shot from the Warner Bros. marketing team. Obviously the gentle souls on the internet were overwhelmed, and pretty unhappy.

YouTube ended up banning the clip because it violated their policy, which states that “promotions containing violent language, gruesome or disgusting imagery, or graphic images or accounts of physical trauma” and “promotions that are likely to shock or scare” are in violation, according to Maxim.

But don’t worry. You can watch the clip below. Though you’ve been warned.

And if you aren’t quite ready for that ad but want to see what The Nun is all about, you can check out the trailer below.
