Michael Cohen Is Reportedly “Living Like a Celebrity” in Prison

Depending, of course, on your definition of "celebrity"

Former presidential “fixer” Michael Cohen began his three-year prison sentence for tax evasion and campaign finance violations back in May, but according to Cohen’s lawyer, the former Trump associate is living well in the slammer.

“People wish Michael Cohen is getting beaten up every day in prison — but he’s literally the mayor of the prison,” Cohen’s attorney David Schwartz told Page Six. “He’s doing great: The other inmates call him ‘Mr Mayor.’ He’s a celebrity in the jail. Everybody is coming up and shaking his hand. He’s enjoying hanging out with the other inmates.”

Cohen’s serving his time at Otisville, a federal prison in New York that houses 120 inmates. In addition to making new friends, Schwartz adds that Cohen’s spending his days getting buff.

“Michael has a job fixing fire hydrants,” he told the publication. “He really enjoys his work. He looks great — he is tan, works out every day and has lost more than 30 pounds. He sleeps in a cubicle with a bed, night table and a desk … He is basically very unstressed. The only downside is he misses his family.”

Cohen also reached out to Page Six from behind bars, taking issue with a recent story that claimed Omarosa Manigualt Newman was his “new self-help guru.” “Omarosa is not my spiritual advisor (I’m Jewish),” Cohen wrote. “She is not my emotional advisor (She is a friend). She did not come to Otisville … as she has not yet been approved for visitation.”
