The red band trailer for The Beach Bum is upon us, and writer/director Harmony Korine may have dreamed up the wildest version of Matthew McConaughey yet. Korine, who began his career as a provocateur in the ‘90s by writing the surreal and controversial Kids, has McConaughey playing Moondog, a hard-partier who spends his time living his best life on the water. The first trailer shows Moondog in all his glory, alongside an eclectic cast that includes Snoop Dogg, Jimmy Buffett, Zac Efron, and Isla Fisher, according to Maxim.

Korine last shocked audiences in 2013 with Spring Breakers, the all-neon party-heist movie. Our first look at The Beach Bum suggests a similar setting, with just as much potential for violence and bizarre narrative turns. The Beach Bum will arrive in theaters on March 22, 2019.
