Actress and former Scientologist Leah Remini says Scientology is closer to the government than people realize.

“Scientology hopes to take over our government,” she told the Daily Beast in a recent interview. Remini, whose Emmy-winning series “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath” traced her escape and recovery from the church, also spoke about other celebrity Scientologists and public figures, including a few she said have connections to the Trump administration.

According to Remini, lobbyist Greg Mitchell, former Fox News host Greta Van Susteren and singer and noted Trump supporter Joy Villa who is perhaps best known for sporting controversial right-wing apparel on red carpets all link the church to the current administration. Noting that Trump has tweeted about Villa, Remini went as far as to call the singer “a person who’s infiltrated the White House.”

“There’s a policy in Scientology dealing with the public image — this is also under the Fair Game stuff — and it’s to infiltrate real churches, control governments, control government agencies,” Remini explained in the interview.  “This is all part of the policy of Scientology, which is to infiltrate to take over.”

Remini also spoke about Danny Masterson, a Scientologist and former That 70s Show star who has been accused of sexual assault by four women. In a lawsuit filed earlier this month, the women accused the church and Masterson of stalking, physical invasion of privacy, and a conspiracy to obstruct justice. Remini said that A&E had previously shelved an episode of her show that focused on Masterson, which finally aired last night as the show’s series finale.

At the end of the interview, Remini also hinted about future plans to take down the church. “We’ve done what we can do in this first phase, and now we’re on to phase II.”
