Chris Pratt’s Cowboy Ninja Viking has been delayed indefinitely by Universal, which pulled the film from its planned release date, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Last week, Priyanka Chopra was cast of the film’s female lead, and the picture was in production. It was slated to open June 28, 2019, and was heading for a shoot in London next month.
The studio says it remains in active development and will be dated down the line, writes THR. A source close to the project says that there were issues with the script. The film was in the $65 million range and looked at as a potential franchise starter. It features a counter-intelligence unit formed by psychotherapist Dr. Sebastian Ghislain, who transforms agents known as Triplets, a reference to multiple personalities.
Pratt is still a headliner for the Jurassic World franchise and the third installment is currently being written. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was due to begin shooting in February, but director James Gunn was fired after the resurfacing of inappropriate tweets.
