If 2020 has left you with a lot of pent-up aggression and you happen to have some extra cash burning a hole in your pocket, you may be in luck: one of President Trump’s former casinos in Atlantic City is scheduled to be demolished next month, and the city is auctioning off the opportunity to be the one to press the button to blow it up.
Demolition work on the deteriorating former Trump Plaza casino, which opened in 1984 and closed in 2014, actually began earlier this year, but the remainder of the structure will be blown up on Jan. 29. Mayor Marty Small is hoping the auction will raise in excess of $1 million for the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City.
“Some of Atlantic City’s iconic moments happened there, but on his way out, Donald Trump openly mocked Atlantic City, saying he made a lot of money and then got out,” Small said. “I wanted to use the demolition of this place to raise money for charity.”
As The Guardian reports, “The Boys & Girls Club has hired a professional auction company to solicit bids from Thursday through January 19, when the top bids will be revealed and a live auction will determine a winner.”
