The Boss is back: Bruce Springsteen has announced a new studio album, Letter to You, with the E Street Band due out on Oct. 23 via Columbia Records.
The 12-track album, which will be the 20th of his career, was recorded at his home studio in New Jersey and produced by Springsteen and Ron Aniello. It features nine recently written songs, as well as three new recordings of outtakes from some of his ’70s records: “Janey Needs a Shooter,” “Song for Orphans” and “If I Was the Priest.”
“I love the emotional nature of Letter To You,” Springsteen said in a press release. “And I love the sound of the E Street Band playing completely live in the studio, in a way we’ve never done before, and with no overdubs. We made the album in only five days, and it turned out to be one of the greatest recording experiences I’ve ever had.”
Letter to You follows last year’s Western Stars. You can check out its complete tracklist as well as the music video for the title track, which features black-and-white footage of Springsteen and the E Street Band in the studio, below.
