Sometimes rock and roll is a family business. The music world abounds with instances of this, from Jakob Dylan to Miley Cyrus and beyond. For at least two of the members of Metallica, that’s also the case. Tye Trujillo (son of Robert) makes music in the group OTTTO, while Castor Hetfield (son of James) plays drums in the group Bastardane. And now, these two groups are hitting the road together. Call it the Sons of the Monsters of Rock Tour, perhaps.

Consequence has more details on the six-date West Coast tour, which is set to kick off in late May. Both bands are slated to appear as part of the Bottlerock Festival in Napa Valley on separate days. Their first co-headlining show is scheduled for May 31 at San Francisco’s Bottom of the Hill, with the tour wrapping up on June 10 at Seal Beach’s Affliction Clothing HQ.

OTTTO released their debut album in 2020, while Bastardane’s first album was released earlier this year.

For his part, Trujillo is already establishing himself as an in-demand bassist in his own right. His earlier band Suspect208 drew some attention, and he’s also spent some time in the lineup of thrash veterans Suicidal Tendencies. That’s a productive couple of years right there.
