After it was forced to suspend production on Sept. 3 due to a positive COVID-19 test from star Robert Pattinson, The Batman has reportedly resumed filming in the U.K., according to USA Today.
Warner Bros. still has not confirmed the identity of the person working on the movie who tested positive, but earlier this month Vanity Fair confirmed through an anonymous, “highly placed” source that it was in fact Pattinson. (“A member of The Batman production has tested positive for COVID-19, and is isolating in accordance with established protocols,” the studio said at the time in a statement. “Filming is temporarily paused.”)
The shutdown happened just three days after The Batman had resumed filming following its original hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic. The movie was originally slated to hit theaters in June 2021, but it was pushed to October 2021 due to the delay in shooting. It’s currently scheduled to be released on Oct. 21 of next year.
In addition to Pattinson in the titular role, the movie features Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone. When production was shut down earlier this month, director Matt Reeves reportedly had about three months of shooting left to complete on the film.
