It’s been almost a year since Shepard Smith announced his exit from Fox News, bringing to an end a long-running relationship between the anchor and the network. Speculation swirled about where he might end up next, with Smith eventually announcing that he would be hosting a show on CNBC. Now, more details about that program have come to light — and offer potential viewers a way to see how they do and don’t coincide with Smith’s previous previous gig.
A new article by Lloyd Grove at The Daily Beast offers a sense of what viewers might expect from Smith’s forthcoming show. The News With Shepard Smith is set to debut on Wednesday night on CNBC. “We’re gonna have experts and we’re gonna have newsmakers,” Smith said. “But we’re gonna have no pundits and no opinion.”

In the interview, Smith also spoke about his intention to use the show to deal with disinformation. “I’m worried about disinformation most. I’m worried about deep fakes and I’m worried about people who live in an information hole that’s actually a dis-information hole,” he said. “It’s fairly new in the arc of things.”
Smith also spoke about his interest in using the show to focus on how daily life has changed since the pandemic began. “Everything about life has changed one way or another,” he said, “and I think documenting how we live in this new normal that changes all the time is important and interesting.”
Beginning this week, viewers will be able to see for themselves just how well Smith’s new show measures up to his ambitions for it.
