If climate change doesn't kill us first, we have a new musical to look forward to.

Richard Linklater’s ambitious Boyhood, filmed over the course of 12 years, wound up raking in six Oscar nominations, and now, according to Collider, the filmmaker is seeking to top that by working on a project that will take even longer to shoot. Merrily We Roll Along, an adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim musical of the same name, will reportedly be filmed over two full decades.

The play takes place over the course of 20 years, beginning with its main character at the height of his fame and moving backwards in time, and Collider reports that the movie is being shot in reverse-chronological order because it ends when the characters are in their mid-20s. Beanie Feldstein and Ben Platt will star as Mary Flynn and Franklin Shepard, respectively.

Ginger Sledge and Jason Blum will reportedly produce the movie. So far there’s no word on when exactly in 2039 we can expect the film to hit the big screen.
