Social Media Manager (New York, NY)

InsideHook is looking for a savvy, sophisticated Social Media Manager to lead all social media efforts across organic and paid campaigns. The Social Media Manager is a critical part of the Audience Development team, reporting to the Head of Audience Development. The ideal candidate will have a keen knowledge of best practices driving growth and engagement across all social media channels, as well as InsideHook’s value proposition, differentiation and voice. S/he will have a deep understanding of what drives users to engage with content, how to convert readers into followers, and spark long-term growth aligned with advertising and business goals.

Job Overview:

InsideHook is seeking a Social Media Manager to implement strategies for audience acquisition and engagement on all social media platforms. The ideal candidate should serve as a social media expert, platform partner and trend-spotter to bring first-to-market social and digital media opportunities that align with business objectives. 

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus health benefits and paid time off. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategy to grow InsideHook’s social presence on established and emerging platforms
  • Write, schedule and optimize daily content across multiple social platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram (including Stories), Twitter, Pinterest, and Flipboard leveraging each channel’s tools and tactics
  • Proactively engage and interact with followers and fans by responding to questions and joining in relevant conversations (tweeting, sharing, commenting and liking, etc)
  • Work cross-functionally with InsideHook’s editorial, sales, branded, creative and engineering stakeholders to ideate and execute social-focused initiatives and partnerships
  • Execute, manage, test and optimize paid social efforts, including but not limited to strategy development, audience targeting and ad campaign setup  for social amplification of branded content
  • Implement, experiment, and iterate paid social campaigns for brand awareness and email capture/acquisition, utilizing custom audiences and external vendors (such as Keywee)
  • Research, develop and test new audience segments (ie retargeting, lookalikes, custom audiences, etc) and new platforms (Pinterest, Flipboard, YouTube) 
  • Manage budgets, monitor pacing/delivery, optimize tests and maintain ROI goals and KPI tracking
  • Find and maintain relationships with content/marketing partners and social platform managers to develop partnership opportunities, collaborate with influencers on giveaways, brand promotion and create general buzz through innovative partnerships
  • Keep ahead of and communicate social media trends, best practices and platform updates with team and key stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field 
  • 2-4 years of experience in social media strategy and managing social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn) and other off-network platforms (Flipboard, Reddit, YouTube)
  • Experience working with social insights tools: GA, Parse.ly, Crowdtangle, Facebook Insights, Instagram Insights, Twitter Insights, Ads Manager and social scheduling tools 
  • Proven record of writing smart, optimized, engaging social media copy, including writing headlines and social language, and selecting images with social reach potential 
  • Strong, adaptable writing skills to hone the brand voice on social. Photo / video editing experience a plus
  • High energy, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities under pressure and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Great team player; but you can also ride solo when needed. Be cool and collaborative. Culture is very important to us.
  • Strong sense of ownership and entrepreneurial spirit, always looking for ways to take initiative and improve existing programs or processes
