When our resident watch expert chose the best new watches of 2020, he included the Rado Captain Cook Bronze, writing that while the bronze dive watch is certainly a trendy style, this particular model stands out from the crowd for its less-is-more-approach, its distinctive design that harkens back to a model introduced in 1962 and signatures flourishes like the ceramic bezel.

In other words, as both a popular and critically acclaimed style, it’s not the kind of watch you’d expect to come across at a discount. But that’s just what we did: over at Nordstrom, this exact Rado timepiece is almost $500 off, and a number of other Captain Cook editions are also on sale.

Why is the retailer offering 20% discounts on one of our favorite accessible dive watches? We’re not sure, but we’re not complaining. If you’re not quite sold on the bronze aesthetic, there are three other versions on sale including a blue bezel and dial on a leather strap and a black bezel and dial on a metal bracelet which both come in the same 42mm case size, as well as a smaller 37mm option if you want something that adheres more to the original ‘60s style. And if the Captain Cook isn’t for you, there are a few other Rado models on sale as well, but don’t expect these discounts to last long.
