Now if only we could figure out which side is the front...

If there is a silver lining to the death of an artist, it’s that they are survived by their work.

This is especially true for the late architectural demigod Zaha Hadid, whose portfolio includes a universe of stunning designs that were not yet realized when she passed away earlier this year.

One such design was the Z-Boat, a 26-foot, 220-horsepower single-engine vessel that is now in production thanks to French boatwright Shore Team. Commissioned by art dealer Kenny Schachter, the asymmetrical, eight-person speedboat will be limited to a production run of just four prototypes and 12 actual models.

While describing the bespoke boat, Shore Team compared it to the Cisitalia 202 GT sports car that’s part of MoMA’s permanent collection. “The idea is to think of vessels and vehicles as highly individualistic expressions of art, architecture and design reflecting the edge of what is possible using the most advanced means,” according to the design company.

Art or not, one thing is for sure: we want our hands on the tiller.

… assuming we can figure out which side the front is.
