Out of 10 Land Rovers Made for ‘Spectre,’ Only One Survived

The best thing about Bond cars? It turns out you actually might have a fighting chance in hell to get close to one. (Can’t say the same about Bond girls).

And while we’re used to Agent 007 cruising in the slickest of British steel like the indisputable Aston Martin DB5, things have gotten a bit more tactical in recent years.

By name, the Spectre Defender SVX, is one of 10 units made by Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations for the 24th Bond flick Spectre. Not all survived the high-speed chases unscathed (or at all) … save one.

This killer number was not used for stunts — drive-bys and close-ups rather — and remains, for the most part, pristine.

And now the SVX will go home with one lucky bidder on September 7th at RM Sotheby’s London auction.

Beyond the brute looks, the 185-horsepower, diesel Defender is working with upgrades such as 37-inch tires, rose joints, Bilstein rally dampers, a hybrid internal-external roll cage and LED spotlights.

It’s street legal and only sporting 14.5 miles on the odi. The auction lists the ride without reserves, but you can count on needing some internationally-funded-spy-mission amount of loot to land this Rover.
