The ‘60s were a groovier time, when beautiful and free-loving individuals got together to produce cute little rugrats with big eyes and open souls who just wanted to have fun and explore the open road.
And that was just Ferrari and Fiat, much less the actual people who drove them.
The two Italian automakers hooked up in 1967 and created the Ferves Ranger, a manual transmission model with a four-cylinder 500cc Fiat engine and a top speed of 45 MPH. The off-road vehicle — which gets its first name from the FERrari VEicoli Speciali division — has a detachable roof, removable suicide doors and vinyl-wrapped seats with room for four.
We have some bad news: only 600 Rangers were made and fewer than 10 ended up in the U.S.
But we also have some good news: one of them is for sale in California as we type.
The yellow Ranger “is in excellent running condition” and bidding is up to $20.5k as of this writing. The rare model could be a good investment and, more importantly, summer’s coming.
