According to 20 Million Passengers, These Are the World’s Best Airlines

Singapore Air, take a bow. All US airlines? Bow in shame.

As airlines continue to shrink seats and tack on hidden fees, we constantly scream, “Ask the passengers what they want!”

So someone did.

The consumer aviation site Skytrax just released its 2018 World Airline Awards, voted on by more than 20 million airline customers and 100 customer nationalities around the globe. The awards are an independent entity (no airlines or shady payments involved) and the survey covers 49 parameters, from boarding assistance to toilet cleanliness to seat comfort.

It’s not a huge surprise that Singapore Airlines came in first, having already won three other times and finishing second last year, flipping places with Qatar Airlines. Credit their Michelin-starred meals, jet lag-free flights and swanky suites.

Want some depressing news? The top U.S.-based airline was Delta … all the way down at 37th. We discussed why the short-term thinking of our country’s airlines is terrible for passengers and business last year, and those same lessons still apply.

A few other winners: China Southern won Most Improved, Garuda Indonesia took home Best Airline Cabin Crew and ANA All Nippon won for Cabin Cleanliness.
