Ever since the passing of Roger Ailes and Fox News’ ouster of Bill O’Reilly—among a number of other sexual harassment–related claims and damages to the brand—the question on the industry’s mind has been: What’s next?
As Business Insider notes, the answer could be on the air right now.
After just over a month, a new show called The Fox News Specialists, which airs at 5 p.m. on weekdays, may hold promise for the struggling network.
The show hosted by Eric Bolling—a vocal supporter of President Trump from long before he moved in to the White House. But what makes the show unique is that it isn’t just a love-fest to the Commander in Chief.
As Business Insider notes, though, “while Bolling’s seat at the center of the table in the 5 p.m. hour will remain friendly territory for Trump supporters … co-hosts Eboni Williams and Kat Timpf have added a wrinkle to the formula by scrutinizing and questioning dogmatically pro-Trump guests and Bolling himself.”
Said Williams to Business Insider: “This is not a show to be an advocacy for the administration, but this is not a show to bash our president….This is a show to go layer by layer, issue by issue and have an actual dialogue.”
That dynamic seems to be connecting—and may be just what Fox News needed desperately.
