It’s a dance routine that’s anything but routine — using visual projections to turn the performer’s physical movements into a mind-blowing work of visual art.
Choreographer Aya Soto collaborated with WOW inc., a visual design studio, to produce Inori (Prayer). An army of artists and tech gurus joined forces to create a chameleon-like effect on the dancers’ faces.
The team used high-speed projection mapping technology, which displays moving visuals at 1,000 frames per second, so they can be captured on video, CDM reports. To have the projections follow the dancers’ faces, they used face mapping technology that’s similar to the motion-capture used for CGI performances.
