The 5 Best (and Warmest) Wares From Backcountry’s Woolrich Sale

Wool vests, ‘rough rider’ blankets and buffalo flannel

The 5 Best (and Warmest) Wares From Backcountry’s Woolrich Sale

Sad news you may have missed over the holiday: Woolrich closed its Pennsylvania mill, its last domestic plant and the oldest continuously operating woolen mill in the U.S.

That’s not to say the buffalo-check pioneers are going belly up. Woolrich President Nicholas P. Brayton said this move was made expressly with the future in mind: “If we are not thinking long term, we won’t be here.” But as production further shifts to other domestic and international plants (a move that happened long before this closure), we hope the quality doesn’t suffer.

Before that transition happens, we can still wholeheartedly vouch for Woolrich’s highly bequeathable duds, and right now all of Backcountry’s stock is 25% off. There are more than a few flannels and blankets to choose from, so to help you decide what to stock up on we’ve highlighted our five favorites below. But be quick about it — some styles have limited inventory.
