I’m going to be honest: I have no idea what Ford v Ferrari is about. In fact, I’m so clueless in regards to this film that I recently discovered neither Christian Bale nor Matt Damon are the titular characters. A quick dive into IMDB reveals they actually portray Carroll Shelby (Damon), an American car designer and owner of Shelby American, and Ken Miles (Bale), a British sports car driver. Essentially, Shelby and Miles are enlisted by Lee Iacocca (portrayed by Jon Bernthal), Vice President of Ford Motor Company, to build and race a car that will defeat Enzo Ferrari (Remo Girone) at Le Mans. It’s safe to assume that what ensues is various racing sequences meant to keep you on the edge of your seat and a couple wildly extravagant crashes. Will Shelby and Miles succeed? Can Ferrari be defeated? Will ‘Murica rightfully come out on top? I honestly couldn’t tell you.

What I do know about this movie is that it heavily features some great sunglasses. Regardless of whether you’ve seen the film, at the very least you’ve probably seen the posters, the most popular one featuring Bale and Damon staring stoically into the distance, their eyes shielded by some serious shades. Bale, being the car driver and actually needing the sunglasses for utilitarian purposes, wears the Ray-Ban Balorama, which are fine and all but are slightly reminiscent of a pair my dad would pick up at a gas station. The far superior pair is worn by Damon (pictured above) and feature a light amber frame and brownish-greenish lenses. It doesn’t look like the lenses provide much in the way of blocking out the sun, but who cares? They look cool and that’s what matters. The ones worn by Damon in the movie have been identified as the Entourage of 7 Beacon sunglasses, but are currently no where to be found for purchase. Luckily, there are plenty of dupes out there that’ll still lend you the ’60s Americana air that Shelby emanates.
