The world of the “everyday” sneaker is a tricky one. Typically you can choose comfort and forego style (see: Allbirds) or opt for style and forego comfort (see: Common Projects). Either way, not ideal.
Two enterprising young Canadians are now hoping to change all that, proffering the world’s first stylish sneaker featuring custom 3D-printed footbeds. The brand is called Casca, it just launched, and we suggest copping a pair straightaway.
Casca’s sneaker is called the AVRO, a slick, streamlined court shoe silhouette offered in two versions: one leather and one knit (both come in black and grey). The leather version is treated with a waterproof solution that wards off the elements without reducing the leather’s breathability, and also features a memory foam interior panel for maximum comfort. The AVRO Knit is crafted from a single, engineered piece of fabric to minimize seams, reinforced with bonded paneling inside to help the shoe maintain its shape over time. Science!
Both feature an ultra cushy foam footbed, a proprietary integrated heel support frame (developed with a team of orthotic experts), and a brawny mountaineering-grade rubber sole. Both also, it bears noting, look cool AF.
Casca’s pièce de résistance, however, comes in the form of their “FootB3D” technology, which maps 20,000 unique data points on your foot via the Casca app to create a one-of-a-kind custom insole that fits you like a glove. A foot glove.
Cut to you, strolling about town like a champ, looking good and feeling good. This is what progress looks like. This is the footwear future we were promised. Ideal.
