Off the Cuff

Buying premium denim can be so confusing, a man could be driven to distraction or, worse, jeggings.

Making the process of buying jeans as simple as wearing them: Gustin Jeans, available now for pre-order.

Gustins are handcrafted by SF denim vets who, like many of their contemporaries — Everlane, Frank & Oak, etc. — decided to forego the middle man and “disrupt the high end clothing market.” Yes, they were funded via Kickstarter.

Their industry-rattling idea: sell denim that would cost $200 at retail for a wholesale price of $81 and up, and ship directly to you.

And this is quality stuff.

The jeans are classic straight-leg cut, constructed from raw selvage denim sourced from luxury mills in North Carolina and Japan, and finished with handmade leather patches, custom-shaped buttons, and chain-stitched cuffs.

Available for purchase now: “The Standard,” an organic, broken-twill denim with a dark indigo finish.

And as a solid for InsideHook, Gustin today released 50 new pairs of their previously exhausted line of “The Organic,” a heavy raw denim from Italy with a soft touch.

“We had a little more of that fabric we were holding back,” says one of the Gustin fellas. “It’d be cool if we could offer to you guys.”

Everybody now, put down the jeggings.
