Following a week that saw the Yankees take two out of three games from the Red Sox at home and continue to club home runs at a record pace, the Bronx Bombers are the unanimous choice as the top team in Major League Baseball following Week 6, according to power rankers from ESPNCBS Sports and USA Today.

For the first time this year, the power rankers that be are also in agreement about the second- and third-most-powerful teams in MLB: the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros.

Rounding out the top five heading into the seventh full week of regular-season play are the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Angels, the same two teams that filled it out last week.

That’s where things get interesting as the Washington Nationals have made a huge push from being in the middle of the pack last week all the way up to the sixth overall spot, a move that coincides with plunges by the Cardinals, Cubs, and Brewers.

Overall, it was a good week for most of the NL East, as the Phillies and Braves joined the Nationals in climbing the consensus power ranks … sorry Mets fans.

See what other teams rose and fell in our Ultimate Power Rankings, which combine the weekly grades from ESPN, CBS Sports and USA Today to get one, definitive ranking.

The list of 30 teams is then further broken down into segmented tiers to make it even easier to see, at least at this point in the season, which teams are contenders and which are pretenders.
