Ultimate MLB Power Rankings: Week 13

Following a brutal 10-game stretch, the Seattle Mariners appear to have righted the ship.

From June 14 through June 24, the Seattle Mariners went 3-7, including a five-game losing streak where they were outscored 41-23 combined.

To be fair to the Mariners, all 10 of those games came against two of the top three teams in Major League Baseball, the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, so it’s not all that difficult to see why they lost.

That said, the slide raised the question of whether the AL West’s second-place Mariners were as good as their record suggested or simply a better-than-average team that was capable of beating up on subpar competition.

Unfortunately for Seattle, who are now riding a seven-game winning streak that began June 25, that question still remains as their recent hot stretch has come against two of MLB’s worst this season, the Baltimore Orioles and Kanas City Royals.

For now, it appears as if MLB power rankers from ESPNCBS Sports and USA Today are willing to give the Mariners the benefit of the doubt as they are now once again ranked as one of the top-tier teams in baseball.

But how far have they risen?

To see where Seattle’s hot streak has gotten them, check out RealClearLife‘s Ultimate Power Rankings, which combine ratings from ESPN, CBS and USA Today to get a single definitive rank for all 30 teams in Major League Baseball and use segmented tiers to arrange them.
