It’s never too early in the season to pass judgement on the state of Major League Baseball teams.
Though it has been less than a week since baseball season began in earnest, there’s been more than enough time to make snap judgments about which teams are contenders, which are pretenders and which are destined to be offenders to the sport in general because they are so awful. (Sorry Baltimore).
As such, power rankers from Yahoo Sports, CBS Sports, and The Athletic have put up their first ranks of the young season with one team head, shoulders and batting helmets coming in above the rest of MLB.
And, as we did all of last season, we’ve used them to compile the first 2019 edition of RealClearLife‘s Ultimate MLB Power Rankings, which combine ratings from other publications to get a single rank for all 30 teams in MLB and use segmented tiers to arrange them.
Since the peanuts and cracker jacks have only been getting served up at ballparks across the nation for a few days, there isn’t a huge sample size to work with, but here’s how things stand thus far on the young season.
