Three teams, two playoff spots.

That’s what it looks like it will be coming down to in the National League as the Los Angeles Dodgers, Colorado Rockies, and St. Louis Cardinals are currently in a three-way battle that should come down to the wire.

As of this writing, the Rockies have a half-game lead over the Dodgers in the NL West, which means they currently have the guaranteed playoff spot that comes with first place. For now.

In the wild card standings, the Cardinals and Dodgers are tied up, both sitting three games back of the Milwaukee Brewers (who only trail the Cubs by 2.5 games for first in the NL Central ).

At this point, it’s anyone’s guess as to how this race will play out as all three teams have played around .500 ball over their last 10 games and all have a mix of difficult and easy opponents remaining on their schedules.

But how do the power rankers from ESPNCBS and USA Today see it?

Find out in the penultimate edition of RealClearLife‘s Ultimate Power Rankings, which combine ratings from those three publications to get a single rank for all 30 teams in MLB and use segmented tiers to arrange them.
