Envisioning What Climate Change Could Do to New York City
Filmmakers imagine the Big Apple underwater in environmental film short.
With the chorus of criticism over President Trump’s decision to pull out of the Paris Climate Agreement—and signs of impending doom such as Antarctica’s out-of-control meltdown—there is great uncertainty looming over the future.
But is the state of our environment really as dire as some predict?
Two French filmmakers, known by the Vimeo handle Claire&Max, have waded, shall we say, into the debate with this experimental simulation of what New York City might look like if it were underwater because of rising sea levels.
Not completely, obviously, but enough to make walking throughout the concrete jungle all but impossible—and cause millions of dollars of damage to local businesses. (Read more about their New York City project.)
Take a look at the eerie simulation above.
