This week, TODAY’s Matt Lauer sat down with comedian and multiple-Emmy-winning talk show host Ellen DeGeneres to talk politics. Specifically, Lauer wanted to know if DeGeneres, who is an outspoken liberal, would ever invite President Trump to come on her show.

Her response?

No.

“Why wouldn’t someone like you like to sit down opposite the President of the United States?” Lauer asked.

“Because I’m not gonna change his mind,” answered DeGeneres. “He’s against everything that I stand for.”

DeGeneres, who came out as gay 20 years ago, is an outspoken social activist who is involved with liberal humanitarian causes including UNICEF, breast cancer, and PETA.

“We need to look at someone else who looks different than us, and believes in something that we don’t believe in and still accept them and still let them have their rights,” DeGeneres told Lauer.
