Actor Antonio Sabato Jr.’s next role will be a political drama.

The former General Hospital and Melrose Place star and friend of Donald Trump is running for Congress in California, his fundraiser confirmed to the Los Angeles Times.

The Republican will be challenging Democrat Rep. Julia Brownley (Westlake Village), whose constituency covers the southern central coast and most of Ventura County.

His campaign officially filed documents with the Federal Election Commission on Monday.

Sabato, 45, spoke on behalf of Trump at the 2016 Republican National Convention. He may need a job outside of Hollywood nowadays as he’s claimed that Hollywood producers have blacklisted him because of his visible support for the GOP.

“Being a Republican and with proximity to the White House and Republican leadership, he’s going to be able to get more done—being in the majority, with his notoriety, for the residents of the 26th [Congressional] District,” GOP strategist Charles Moran told The Times.
