Last Year’s Insane Motorcycle Wheelie Record Will Be Tough to Beat

When second wheel becomes the proverbial 'third wheel'....

The Olympics are great and all if you’re into watching grown men cry, but a number of other more entertaining competitions have also been capturing our attention in recent weeks.

The latest? The upcoming Motorcycle Wheelie World Championship in North Yorkshire, England.

Slated to be held at Elvington Airfield on August 20th and 21st, the 11th installment of the Straightliners annual event will feature dozens of racers from the U.S., U.K., France, Holland and Ireland attempting to shatter the world record stuntman Gary Rothwell set at last year’s event.

To capture the title in 2015, Rothwell completed an entire one-kilometer (0.62 miles) run on the back wheel of his 540-HP Hayabusa and crossed the finish line at a speed of 209.822 MPH.

If anyone wants to break his record, they’re gonna have to do better than this:
