On a day when some knelt down, one Tennessee public safety officer stepped up to honor the victims of 9/11.

Jason Harding, formerly of the Fairview Fire Department, went to a Planet Fitness in Maryville early Sunday morning so he could replicate the 110-story climb many first responders made at the World Trade Center 15 years ago.

The 33-year-old did the tribute climb in full gear, and an image of him completing the moving tribute was captured by an employee at the gym.

“This man asked if it was okay for him to climb 110 sets, fully suited, of stairs in honor of his fallen brothers and sisters for 9-11,” wrote Planet Fitness employee Lezlie Bauler’s Facebook post. “Yes sir, you can. I am not one to get emotional, but a few tears were shed. Thank you for your services.”

Harding wanted to honor his deceased colleagues at the National Stair Climb. but had to work and so couldn’t attend the annual tribute event, The Mirror reported. That’s why he made the climb on his own instead.

Hopefully he can make it next year.
