Finally: Scientific Proof That Farting Makes Us Happy
While we’re still skeptical about the whole “smelling them is healthy” thing, we full endorse science’s newest finding about farts.
They make you happy.
Professors from Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Gabrichevsky Moscow Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology conducted an analysis of gasotransmitters (aka gaseous substances; aka farts) in order to determine what effect they have on us.
“Our brain cannot work without neurotransmitters, i.e., substances that transmit impulses from one nerve cell to another. One of the classes of neurotransmitters are gaseous substances (gasotransmitters),” according to Oleskin. “Gasotransmitters affect our brain, mind and behavior.”
Oleskin went on to say “the probiotic bacterial strains that are used as dietary supplements” are a good way to make use of the “beneficial [emphasis ours] effects” gas transmitters have on the brain and its behavior.
