Fighting Style

The pugilists of yore had a certain gritty dignity.

They were – apologies to Mr. Mayweather – men who would not have been caught in the company of Justin Bieber.

What they would have been caught in: Todd Snyder’s vintage-inspired collab with the sportswear vets at Champion, now available at his just-opened “City Gym” in Nolita (view a gallery of the quarters here).

Our picks for an ensemble that’ll play from hitting the heavy bag to hitting the pub:

The Shirt

TS tees have the weathered feel of an old gym standby but an updated fit that looks clean up top. Grab the City Gym tiger, a shop exclusive.

The Pants

We keep saying it – tailored sweatpants are a stylish option for weekend kicking-around. TS’s numbers have a goes-with-everything heather patina and a fit that’s comfy without looking sloppy.

The Sweater

Merino wool for warmth, raglan sleeves to cut a macho figure, and striped hem and cuffs for collegiate cred.

The Jacket

TS’s black-on-black letterman jacket is tough as nails, but we’re leaning toward the in-house exclusive brown suede bomber, a whiskey shade that warms the rest of the outfit up.

The Gym also stocks gear from Snyder’s regular collection, as well as Faribault blankets, furniture by ABC Home and PF Flyers for your feet.

Should round out the outfit nicely.
