Three things that are worth the investment: an excellent mattress, an on-call attorney and — at least in this city — some durable, winter-busting kicks.

Thankfully, local shoemaker Thursday Boot Co. is here to assist in one of those arenas.

Their newly launched and limited edition Blackout Commander boot can go toe-to-toe with any heritage or luxury brand on the market.

Good for work. Good for play. Built to meet all the demands of the modern, upright, bipedal man.

Only drawback? They’re only making 100 of ‘em.

Handcrafted in North America using Goodyear welt construction, The Black Commander is fully waterproof and readily resoleable. But the quality doesn’t stop there. The leather, coined “Thursday Chrome,” is an exclusive creation in partnership with Le Farc, a gold-certified tannery in Mexico. It’s hot-stuffed with waxes and oils to ensure weather resistance and an extended lifespan.

Additional features include cork-bed midsoles for comfort, a glove-leather interior lining, an EVA Comfort strip (the same you’ll find in many athletic shoes) for support, and studded rubber outsoles that ensure a sturdy grip on ice and grappling capability on more rugged terrain.

Founded locally by Nolan Walsh and Connor Wilson, the idea behind Thursday was a simple one: “We wanted to make boots for guys like us,” says Walsh. “We both experienced the Goldilocks conundrum. Work boots were too bulky and fashion boots were too flimsy.”

So they kept the collection minimal, the design simple and partnered wisely. The result: a superior quality boot that plays from day to night, from Wall Street to Williamsburg.

One boot. Ready for anything.
