Exhibit A in the “Things Done Changed” department: flea markets – once the province of doddering blue hairs – are now the purview of monkstrapped men fighting over handbags. Confusingly, this is a good thing.

That’s why you should be aware that the Pop-Up Flea returns this weekend only. If you (and your chums) care about your personal style (yes, you should care about your personal style), then don’t miss this. Here’s how to do your visit the right way.  

Gird Your Loins


Start with lunch at Fanelli’s – it’s older than dirt, literally one block from the Flea, and the proper place to enjoy a hamburger and three martinis in the middle of the day. We know this because we’ve done this.

Hit the Flea


Weathered leather jackets from Levi’s Made & Crafted. Crisp raw selvedge from Tellason. Woolly bowties from Alexander Olch. Engraved shave sets from Harry’s. Freemans doing hot shaves on the spot. This is 15,000 square feet of man shit curated by arguably the best menswear blogger in the game. Go nuts.

This outing can only be topped off one way: steak. A quick jaunt downtown is Marc Forgione’s lauded new steakhouse American Cut, a Mad Men-esque xanadu of chunky Scotch tumblers, oysters bathed in black truffle bechamel sauce and forearm-thick slabs of Forgione’s signature Tomahawk Ribeye.
